Rami Levy contacts the Mossawa Center and disassociates from his statements.
Rami Levy, the owner of companies including "Rami Levy" and "Yesrael," made a phone call to the Mossawa Center, distancing himself from statements attributed to him in a media interview. This followed a letter from the Mossawa Center that accused him of employment discrimination.
Levy had previously stated in an interview, "he wants to replace all his Arab workers."
After the interview, lawyers Alia Zubei and Ahmed Ghazawi, along with a group of female workers who faced discrimination by their managers at various Rami Levy branches, approached the Mossawa Center.
Nibal Ardat, the coordinator of legal and parliamentary advocacy at the Mossawa Center, sent a letter to Rami Levy's company accusing it of employment discrimination. Ardat also requested the Commissioner of Equal Employment Opportunities at the Ministry of Economy to fulfill their duty and investigate Levy for violating the Prohibition of Discrimination in Work and Employment Law.
Following the letter, Levy contacted the Mossawa Center. He spoke to the executive director, Suha Salman Mousa, and Nabila Ardat, denying his earlier statements. He claimed that the company does not discriminate between its workers and employs about four thousand Arab workers.
He asked the Mossawa Center to communicate with Arab Knesset members who shared his statements on their personal accounts, accusing the Center and the members of incitement and taking his statements out of context.
The Mossawa Center will continue to monitor the situation in coordination with the concerned workers.
