Mossawa Center Holds Workshop on Workers' Rights at Al-Jalil School in Nazareth

As part of its legal training program, the Mossawa Center, in collaboration with several university student volunteers, conducted an awareness workshop at Al-Jalil School in Nazareth on workers' rights and the importance of suitable and appropriate employment, especially for young people as the summer vacation approaches. This initiative is also being carried out in other schools, including Al-Nahda in Kafr Qara, Al-Manara in Jisr al-Zarqa, and Al-Mutanabbi in Haifa.

During the workshop, many important topics were covered, such as the legal working age for youth, minimum wage requirements, allowable working hours, workers' rights for overtime, and the right to breaks during work. The workshop also emphasized the importance of adhering to safety and security regulations in the workplace and clarified the types of jobs suitable for young people. Additionally, the necessity of implementing equality in workplaces was highlighted.

Costa Jarjora, the community programs coordinator at the Mossawa Center, explained that this workshop is part of the legal training program aimed at raising awareness of human rights among youth. The goal is to simplify complex legal concepts and enhance their knowledge of their rights to protect them from potential violations, particularly since a significant number of high school students are entering the workforce.

This initiative aims to prepare a generation that is aware of and empowered by their basic rights. It seeks to spread the culture of human rights and social justice among young people in the Arab community and to simplify complex legal concepts.
