We are excited to announce that Friends of Mossawa will be embarking on a tour of the United States and Canada this summer. Mossawa Center Director, Jafar Farah, and Friends of Mossawa Coordinator, Suha Salman Mousa, will be traveling to Washington DC, New York City, Toronto, and Ottawa from June 8th to June 21st.
In addition to examining the ramifications of recent political and legislative developments in Israel and unpacking the so-called “Deal of the Century,” Farah and Salman Mousa will discuss the central role of the Palestinian minority in promoting the conditions necessary for a sustainable peace and how the international community can support them in this role. Friends of Mossawa has scheduled meetings with members of Congress, Congressional staffers, politicians, and members of the Canadian Parliament. Throughout the tour, Friends of Mossawa and the Director will also host and participate in panels and events to advocate for the rights of Palestinian Citizens of Israel. For more information regarding these events, please see below.
The 2019 Israeli elections are likely to have a far-reaching impact on Israel, its relations with the international community, and the peace process. Following the dissolution of the 20th Knesset and Prime Minister Netanyahu’s failure to form a government, which triggered another round of elections, the future of Israeli politics is unclear. The continued reign of an extremist, exclusionary government in Israel will have a profoundly negative impact on minority citizens, as well as the peace process. At this crucial juncture, garnering international support for the Palestinian Arab minority in Israel, both as a discriminated against minority and important actor promoting the conditions necessary for peace, is of the utmost importance.
The support of the international community central in the struggle to promote democracy and equality in Israel and end to the occupation. Please join us this month in working towards a more democratic and equal society for all.
