From March 27 to 29, 2023, Suha Salman Mousa, the Executive Director of
the Mossawa Center, and Friends of Mossawa in the United States met with key members of the Senate and House of Representatives, as well as with the Special Representative for Palestinian Affairs Hady Amr and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israeli-Palestinian Affairs Andrew Miller from the State Department’s Bureau of Near East Affairs at the US State Department in Washington.
The Mossawa Center and Friends of Mossawa also held meetings with American human rights associations, US foundations, and members and supporters of Friends of Mossawa in Virginia. The meetings aimed to discuss government policy, the judicial coup, and recent legislation's impact on the Palestinian community in Israel and the Palestinian people in general.
During the sessions, the Mossawa Center distributed a paper on the issue and discussed recent actions and statements made by the US administration and several members of Congress. The Mossawa Center and Friends of Mossawa urged officials to work towards ending human rights violations and achieving full and fair equality.
Key members of Congress who attended the meetings include Senator Christopher Van Hollen from Maryland, Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut, Representative Betty McCollum from Minnesota, Representative Cori Bush from Missouri, and Representative Gerry Connolly from Virginia.
It is essential to note that Friends of Mossawa in the United States is an independent association that works tirelessly to raise awareness about the issues facing the Palestinian community in Israel. The Mossawa Center closely monitors these issues by holding meetings and working sessions with members of Congress, senators, officials in the US administration, and civil and human rights organizations.
Overall, the Mossawa Center and Friends of Mossawa's meetings were productive and aimed to foster dialogue on critical issues impacting the Palestinian community in Israel and the broader Palestinian people. Their efforts toward achieving full and fair equality are commendable and should be supported by all those who believe in human rights and social justice.
